First time installation configuration Method:

During the first run of EZDent-i, a connection information screen might appear.

IP Settings section:

• For Workstations/Capture PC: If the database is on a remote server – click the ‘Search Server” button, from the listing choose the correct IP address of where the EzDent-i Server installation is located.
• For Server/Capture PC – If the database is local typically EzServer will be installed lcoally on a Server Install / Capture PC install, set the address to point to the local setting of : 127.0.0.1

Setting Location:

• Choose “Local”

Teeth Code:

• US Market: Universal
• All Others: FDI

Normal Configuration Method:

1. Click in the upper left hand corner the “EzDent-i” logo, from the drop down choose ‘Settings’

2. Configure Settings Location & Teeth Code On The General tab

Settings Location:

• Ensure the local settings are set to “Local”

Teeth Code:

• US Market: Universal
• All Others: FDI

3. Configure EZDent-i server information by choosing the “Database” Tab.

• Typically the default port 55001 should go unchanged.
• In the event the port number is changed for any reason in the EZserver configuration the port should be changed here as well to match.

4. Once choosing the desired configuration; click OK, you will be prompted to ensure EZPicker (If used) is set correctly, click OK, restart the program and confirm conenction is now established.

Since Easy Dent 4 utilizes Microsoft MSSQL server, the following listing has been created to guide your Certified IT consultant in advance of any upgrade. Before installing or moving existing database, the Database Backup Document should be reviewed. Have a final backup created just in advance.

Server Compatibility:

The following Operating Systems have been identified as supporting the MSSQLSERVER – SQL Engine.

• Windows XP
• Windows VIsta
• Windows 7
• All Server Editions Up to Server 2012

The following Operating Systems have been identified as not supporting the MSSQLSERVER – SQL Engine.

• Windows 10
• All Server editions after 2012 edition.

Workstations:

The following Operating Systems have been identified to be operational as a workstation type ‘viewing’ PC’, typically chair side, operatory, and other workstation type.

• Windows XP
• Windows 7
• Windows Vista
• Windows 8*
• Windows 10*

*On Screen Keyboard may not work, however all other general functionality working normally. Requires ‘Run as Admin’ for all Executables.

NOTICE: Vatech is not able to guarantee any upgrade to any windows platform other than ‘as delivered by manufacture’ due to changes or updates to Windows* by Microsoft with out notice at any given time due to changes out side of manufacture control.

Any upgrade or Update windows platform should be carefully managed by Certified IT Consultant in accordance with Manufacture specifications and suggestions. Failure to comply or deviation might cause potential stability issues or undesired failures.

Always retain Original Capture PC and Hard Drive in its entirety in case of upgrade failure to reversion of the system and retention.

In some cases limited functionality might occur, such as twain, direct integration and other such which was originally designed to operate in the previous platform. In those cases we are unable to provide functionality.

Once the upgrade or update is completed, It is strongly advised that any upgrade a certified IT professional creates a ‘clone’ copy of the working hard drive in case of failure due to such updates or changes out side of our control.

• Open – OpenDental software – be sure you are logged in as an administrator account.
• In the main menu, click Setup, Program Links. Double click on ‘EwooEZDent from www.ewoousa.com’.

• Check the Enabled box.Verify the Path of file to open. This bridge also supports EZDent-i. To run EZDent-i, replace the Path to open with:C:\Program Files (x86)\VATECH\EzDent-i\Bin\VTEzDent-iLoader32.exe.
• Double click on a row in Additional Properties to change settings.You can use the PatNum (enter 0) or ChartNum (enter 1) as the patient ID.
• Set up a clickable bridge button.Under ‘Add a button to these toolbars‘, highlight where to display the button.Enter the ‘Text on button‘.(Optional) Import an image to show on the button (22 x 22 pixels).Click OK.

Note: Use Local Path Override when trying to set up bridge on one workstation that has a different path then the one used above. Ex if Ezdent-I or Easydent 4 were installed in a different location path as these settings affect all Open Dental configurations. One setting for all PCs on network.

• Correct patientinfo.ini path and info
• Linkinfo.ini has the correct paths
• VATWAIN is configured properly (if used)Environment.ini and environment_twain.ini (if used)

Second, test using Twacker

To set up twain to work within Tracker, you must select the Twain Device CMD option when trying to acquire.

• To test, go to acquire and select Twain Device CMD

To show that the twain is working, Tracker will have 2 indicators:

• Tracker must recognize the twain driver – Marked with Red
• Tracker must also have the green check mark – Marked with Blue

If selecting Twain Device CMD and tracker is not recognizing the twain driver, a reboot of the PC is necessary.

• Restarting Tracker will not fix the issue, must restart the whole PC

After restarting, Tracker is still not recognizing the twain driver, use a different twain driver Please contact Vatech Support to change the twain DS File as shown below:

• VECapture_TWAIN – File size 336 KB
• VECapture_TWAIN – File size 324 KB
• TWAIN_VCaptureSW.ds

Repeat the previous steps to test which twain driver works.
